Samuel Rice

Samuel Rice , Sr. was born in 1791 at Virginia. He was the son of John Rice and Patsy Fleming. Samuel began military service in 1812 and served under Col. Andrew Jackson during War of 1812. He married Phoebe Hitchcock, daughter of John Hitchcock , Sr. and Temperance Blair, on 24 December 1815 at Floyd County, Kentucky. He married Emily Stratton on 16 August 1848 at Johnson County, Kentucky. He had children with both wives. He died in 1870 at Johnson County, Kentucky.
