Hi Terry or Whoever, If you are interested in the genealogy of the Maryland Riley Branch who went to South Carolina and then to Tennessee and elsewhere, please check out my Riley Page at the following Web Site. I have a lot on the South Carolina Rileys in my book.

I am descended from: Hugh Riley, Sr. (1653-1736); Eliphaz Riley (1688-1760); Ninian (the correct way to spell the name--Nickname is "Ning") Riley, (1726-1814); James Taylor Riley (1760-1838); Henry Riley (1807-1863); etc. Ninian Riley [I] and Family and kin migrated from Prince George's County, Maryland, first to Surry County, North Carolina, circa 1783, then to Fayette County, Kentucky, in the Fall of 1796. Ninian's older brothers John and Samuel (sons of Eliphaz Riley) and sons moved to South Carolina before the Revolutionary War. They lived primarily in Edgewater and Laurens Counties, South Carolina, before descendants moved to Tennessee and Alabama in the early 1800s. The name "Ninian" came into the Riley family, because Hugh Riley, Sr., was a friend and neighbor of Colonel Ninian Beall, a Scotsman, who was transported by the English as punishment for participating in a rebellion in Scotland. The Bealls and Rileys were residents of Prince George's County, Maryland. Hugh Riley, Sr., is believed to have been one of the four sons of Myles Riley, the Immigrant, who arrived in the Chesapeake Bay Area in 1635. Myles was a native of County Meath, Ireland, and died in Old Rappahannock County (abolished in the late 1600s), Virginia, circa 1669. Regards, Bob Riley
