Unfortunately, I couldn't share my happiness with my father. He was in a forced labor camp, and we had no visitation rights. Later, he was shipped to the Russian front. In January 1943, we got a postcard from the Hungarian military saying that my father was missing in action. The truth was never told. A soldier who served in the Hungarian army came home on leave and told us that he met my father in a hospital, near Stalingrad. His hands and legs were frost bitten.
