About Samuel Sanford, I

Samuel married twice and had 16 children, ten of them by his second wife whom he married when he was over 50. His last child was born when Samuel was over 70. He was a breeder of Horses and Sheep for the Barbados market. Was made a freeman on June 3 1661 Samuel's Mother died soon after he was born and he was less than three when his father moved to Aquineck Island. He was a little over 18 when his father died.

Samuel was part of a group who purchased land at Conancut(later Jamestown)Island fro the Indians In March 1856.

He was probably buried at Black Point Farm.

He was married twice. His second wife, Susanna Spatchurst, must have been much younger than him as he was 71 when his youngest child was born.

Died 18 March 1712/3.
