The Savage family is listed among immigrants per Rodney, sailed 7 September, due 25 November 1877 Captain A Louttit Surgeon Superintendent, Dr. J H Cartwright Matron, Miss Margaret Davidson

The arrival of the Rodney and Queen of Nations is reported in the Express, 4 December 1877, page 3e, of the Scottish Lassie on 2 January 1878, page 2d.

Samuel Savage was born 1837 Walkern Hertford, England. and married twice - first to Sarah Aldridge (his neighbour she died 1874 in Yorkshire) then Eliza Humphrey/ies almost straight away. Rose Edwards is Samuel's daughter - she was born in Walkern in 1868 to Samuel and Sarah. There are other children Samuel Savage b 1862 Shoreditch England is her FULL blood brother (I believe there were 2 other brothers, but they died). Samuel Senior and Eliza come to Australia in 1877. They arrived in Adelaide, South Australia and were there for a few years before coming to New South Wales. They live in South Australia for a while and then go to Sydney. Samuel Snr left Adelaide under a cloud as there appears to be some notices in the Newspapers about him owing money for properties at Nailsworth South Australia (this is where Florence was born). They show up in the Assessment books of Newtown in 1885 living at Randell's Terrace Newtown. From what I have found in the Newspapers Samuel Snr is still a builder.

Eliza actually dies at Lillian's in 1934 (I have a certificate for her) and Samuel Snr dies in 1915
