About Samuel Sharpe
notes
1. The family of Sgt William (arrived 1611)and Elizabeth Sharpe (arrived 1621) of the Neck of Land has been examined in detail in various issues of an electronic newsletter called SHARPE IN VIRGINIA. Information on the newsletter is at www.thecolonist.com
2. Samuel Sharpe returned to England in 1626 and there is no evidence that he returned to Virginia. His land later was shown to be in the hands of Elizabeth, widow of William Sharpe. The precise relationship between William and Samuel is not proved, but they appear to have been related.
3. All known descendants of William Sharpe are traced through his son Isack and Isaac's son Robert (d 1720).
4. At least four males with proved descent from William have been tested in the Sharp/Sharpe DNA project. See http://www.small-stuff.com/SHARP/
