Samuel Sheldon: b. 26 May 1760 Lyme, Connecticut, 5th son of Hon. Elisha Sheldon and Elizabeth Ely, of Litchfield was great-grandson of Elizabeth Hyde. He married 31 July 1730, his 3rd cousin Elizabeth Baldwin, b. 6 November 1751, at Litchfield, Connecticut; eldest daughter of Isaac Baldwin, Esquire and Anne Collins. He was a merchant, they settled at Litchfield, removed to Sheldon, Vermont, from there to Troy, New York where she died 10 September 1840. He died 2 January 1842.

Children:

1. Elisha: b. 15 July 1782 at Litchfield, Connecticut. Graduated Yale 1800. Was a physician, studied physic and surgery with Dr. Daniel Sheldon of Litchfield. He married 1 August 1802, Anne Beach b. 25 December 1783 Newtown, Connecticut, daughter of John Beach and Mabel Beers of Sheldon, Vermont and great-granddaughter of Rev. John Beach of Newtown, born 1700, who graduated Yale College 1721. He died 17 March 1782.

NOTE: Returning to Dr. Elisha and Ann. They settled on a farm at Sheldon and in 1822 removed to Troy, New York where he practiced his profession. He died 14 December 1832. His widow, who was the most beautiful woman, died on 21 Jan 1844 at New Haven, Connecticut. They had two children: Elizabeth born on 6 December 1804 Harwinton, Connecticut; Mary born on 6 June 1809 in Sheldon, Vermont.
2. Samuel: born on 28 December 1784 at Litchfield, Connecticut. died on 28 February 1802 while an undergraduate at Yale College
3. Isaac: born on 2 November 1786 at Litchfield, Connecticut; died on 2 January 1818 and married Elizabeth Maria Tryon. Settled at New Lebanon, New York.

Per CC Baldwin: Elizabeth, b. November 6, 1751; married Samuel Sheldon of Troy, New York, her third cousin according to one account I have; another says, Elisha Sheldon, a large landed proprietor in Sheldon, Vermont, and, during the War of 1812, a manufacturer.
