Steven Smith: I'm still researching him, but I have leads that would indicate that Samuel Smith was Samuel A. Smith, a carpenter who was born in Salem, NJ. I believe he was enlisted in the Spanish American War on 15 Jan 1834 by Lt. Blanchard, 3 Inf K, and that he was at Ft. Jesup in Louisiana. I've uploaded a pic of this military record, although I do not have "proof" that this is truly him yet.
