SAMUEL SWETT (Joseph 4, Joseph 3, Benjamin 2, John 1), born in York, Me., 8 March 1728-9, married, 3 Dec. 1772, Lydia, dau. of Daniel and Hannah (Preble) Moulton, born 18 Aug. 1748. His will, 20 June 1808, names sons Daniel and Oliver, and dau. Lydia, wife of Michael Wilson.

Appoints son Daniel Swett sole Executor. Witnesses: Joseph Bragdon, John Swett, Jr., John Grover. Joseph Swett, tanner. An army lieutenant during the Indian Wars. Married Hannah Sayward. Children: Mary, Susanna, Elizabeth, John, Joseph, Esther and Samuel Swett.

LT. JOSEPH SWETT (Joseph 3, Benjamin 2, John 1), born in Hampton, N. H., married Hannah, dau. of John and Mary (Rishworth) Sayward of York, Me. She was born 21 June 1688 and died 15 Nov. 1761. He lived a few years at Hampton Falls and removed thence to York, Me. The church record at Hampton Falls says, "Hannah Swett wife of J. S. Jr. Dism. York (gone this region)." Three children recorded at Hampton, the rest in York. He married (2) 26 June 1762, Patience, widow of Ebenezer Nowell of York. Tate's Journal says that he died 2 Aug. 1776. link
