Samuel Taylor

Samuel Taylor, born 1651; married April 10th, 1678, Sarah (dau. of Henry & Sarah Rusco) Cole, who was born October 22nd, 1654, and died December 9th, 1712. For Samuel's landed ppy.—See Chapt. VII, Vol. I. His cattle-earmark rec. 24 Dec, 1705—IF. T. Y.,1 , 20.

He died December 12th, 1711; invent, of est. taken 5 Feb., 1711-12, by Jona. Hollister and Wm. Nott; his will gives wife the ho. and Id., and a cow and a black mare during her natural life; he devises to sons John and gd.-son Samuel Taylor and "three dau.'s" only—the poss. reason for omitting one of his four daus. may be inferred fm.

From the "History of Ancient Wethersfield" indicates Samuel owned land adjoining his brother, John, on the east side of Middletown Road in the Rocky Hill section of Wethersfield. His name appears on the 1682 Petition to the General Court in Wethersfield to start a new settlement at the present site of Woodstock, CT.
