     *   III. DANIEL TILTON, Ensign, son of William (1), learned the blacksmith's trade, and may have been away from Hampton during his apprenticeship. When he was about twenty-one years of age, he was allowed "to sitt downe as a smith" (p. 71). He settled on the Akerman place, on the Falls hill. (See also, Roads, p. 523.) He married Dec. 23, 1669, Mehetabel Sanborn. Children:
