Biography

Samuel (3) Wallace c 1674 - Bef 26 Aug 1741 lived on the Wallace Farm in Rye. June 4, 1732, he and wife Hannah Seavey 1674 – 1741 , daughter of William and Hannah Seavey. (New Hampshire Deeds, vol 1., page 257.) His will dated June 1, 1741, allowed Aug. 26, 1741, (New Hampshire Records, vol. xv., page 125.) mentioned children:

  1. Samuel 1718 – (executor) m Sarah Moses 1721 – 1801
  2. William 1712 – 1747 m Comfort Cotton 1719 – 1768
  3. George 1714 – 1795 m Margaret McClary 1718 – 1768
  4. Ebenezer 1716 – 1812 m Dorothy Lang 1725-1813
  5. Hannah 1720 –
  6. Mary 1722 –

Of these sons, Samuel (4) (Samuel 3, William 2, George 1) lived on the homestead. He married about 1740, Sarah Moses (James 3, Aaron 2, John 1). They had children, according to the "History of Rye" and the "Moses Genealogy":

1) Sarah, who married May 10, 1764, Paul Seavey;

2) Hannah, born Aug. 2, 1745, who married April 29, 1773, William Marden;

3) Abigail, who married June 12, 1775, Nadab Moses;

4) Mary, who married, Dec. 25, 1781, Joseph Tucker;

5) Samuel, born 1747, who married Nov. 16, 1773, Elizabeth Parsons, and lived in Rye (see "History of Rye");

6) Martha, born 1752, who married March 1, 1796, John Langmaid and lived in Chichester, N.H.

Another son William 1712 – 1747 (Samuel 3, William 2, George 1) married Comfort Cotton 1719 – 1768 on Aug. 15, 1738, daughter of Thomas of Portsmouth. He died before March 15, 1747 (New Hampshire Probate Records, vol. xv11., page 115 ?). His widow Comfort married second on June 30, 1748, to James Knowles of Rochester, N.H.. Children of William and Comfort:

1) Samuel c 1737 - 1800 m Jane "Jenny" 1739 - 1821 was "carpenter" / "joiner," of New Castle. (Exeter Deeds, vol. civ., page 72) owned land in Epsom. will, dated Jan. 8, 1800, was allowed May 21, 1800 (Exeter Probate Records, vol. xxxiii., page 269). sons: Joseph Chase Wallace, Samuel and Shadrach Wallace and daughters Peggie Treadie and Comfort Wallace.

2) William 1740 – 1812 m Mary Brown (of Nottingham, now Northwood). Son: Moses Wallace 1771 – 1851.

3) Spencer

Another son George (4) Wallace 1714 – 1795 (Samuel 3, William 2, George 1) according to Parson's History of Rye" and Cogswell's "History of Nottingham" married Margaret McClary c 1722 – 1757 and removed to Epsom. He married second to Sarah Babb c 1722 - 1782 He was there before 1747. His will, dated Jan. 10, 1781, allowed May 20, 1795 (Exeter Probate Records vol. xxxi., page 529). Children:

1) Martha 1742 – 1833 married Pvt Benson Ham 1730 – 1802 of Epsom, 1759 29 Nov.

2) Margaret 1744 – 1836 married Eliphalet Sanborn 1730 – 1794 on Nov. 19, 1761.

3) Ebenezer c 1744 – 1805 m Sarah McGaffey c 1745 – 1789 on 1770 11 Jan

4) George c 1748 – 1821 m Rachel Babb 1749 – 1823 on 1772 Dec

5) Polly c 1742 – 1833 m Benjamin HAM c 1738 –

6) Jean Jane 1750 – 1785 married James Gray 1749 – 1822 of Epsom July 20, 1769, and died before Feb. 2, 1772. and grandson John Gray

7) Elizabeth 1754 – 1787 m Thomas Babb 1752 – 1808

8) Hannah c 1746 m Andrew McGaffey 1743 – 1826

Another son Ebenezer (4) Wallace c 1716 – 1812 (Samuel 3, William 2, George 1) of Rye married Dorothy Lang 1725 – 1813. His will dated April 18, 1803, was allowed March 13, 1812. (Exeter Probate Records, vol. xi, page 406). Legatees, wife, Dorothy, Ebenezer Wallace Ball, son of the late John Ball, Mary Lang, Fanny G. Lang and Richard Lang.
