- Identified as father of Helene and Hermann Wandstein, see Wolf.
- Samuel Wandstein was arrested in the Reichspogromnacht/Kristallnacht and imprisoned in Buchenwald. He was released on 6 December 1938 and was then able to escape to England: "Wandstein, Samuel (Jahrgang 1893) - Verschleppung in das KZ Buchenwald, Entlassung hier am 6. Dezember 1938, später Flucht nach England,"
- The Enemy Aliens Tribunal Index, to be found in the findmypast database, tells us that Samuel Wandstein sat before the Tribunal on 12 December 1939 and was declared exempt from internment. However, handwriting at the top of the index card says "Release authorized. Cat. 3. 14.12.40". A second card states that he was released on 26.12.40.
