DIED – At Conway, on the fifth inst. Deacon Samuel Ware, aged 88. After __ ing finished the course assigned him, he serenely composed, through the curtain death, into the arms of his favor. Early awakened from the death like flee __sin, it has been his preserving endea__ through a long course of years, “to have ways a conscience void of offence toward God and man.”

His religion was not like Sunday suit, but he was watchful, and prayerful that in all his thoughts words and actions God might be honored and obeyed. In you_ he was discreet, fond of instruction, and active in the cause of truth; in middle age, diligent and laborious in his occupation, and indesa__gable in his exertions to build up Zion, both by precept and example particularly, in his own house – and when age gradually benumb___ his faculties, and dissolved the powers of life his patience and resignation shone in humble, cheerful and affectionate demeanor; __ his studiousness still to be useful with the ren__nat of his capacity, although in the humble employments, and in the peaceful serenity __ entire reliance on Christ’s free grace, with which he met the King of terrors.

He was ever, through life, watchful over, and jealous of the remaining corrupt propensities of his nature, and ever rejoiced with trembling. He delighted to do good to all as he had opportunity, and in turn, was loved and respected by all his acquaintance. “Go thou and do likewise.” [published on January 22, 1806 in The Hampshire Gazette, Northampton, Mass.]
