Sarah Adams Bitely was the daughter of Peter Bitely and Elizabeth Maria Douglas. She was born in the State of Vermont on the 21st of February 1802. She was named after the mid-wife, Sarah Adams, who attended her mother. This woman had no children and asked that the little girl be given her name, so she was given the name of Sarah Adams Bitely.
