1766 In May of this year, Daniel C. Putnam, son of Daniel Putnam, was born. He was drowned in the Connecticut River, at the age of seven years. In June, Samuel Chase moved his family into town and resided at a place called "Mast Camp," a tenement built and formerly occupied by men employed by the King, for cutting masts and getting them into the river, and situated on land now owned by Samuel and John L. Putnam. At this place Dr. Solomon Chase and Sarah March were married. This was the first wedding ever celebrated in the town. http://www.webnests.com/Chase/chronicles/cornishhist.htm
