Sarah Carolyn Farthing Greene Cable

Mrs. Sallie Cable, 84, relict of the late Anderson Cable, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. R. S. Swift, in Boone last Wednesday evening after an illness of several days with heart trouble. Funeral services were conducted Thursday by Reverend P.A. Hicks from Bethel Baptist Church in the Beaver Dam section and interment was in the Greene Cemetery near Timbered Ridge.

Surviving are two sons, Dudley Greene and Conley Greene, one adopted son, Dayton Greene, one daughter, Mrs. R.S. Swift, nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Cable was the last survivor of thirteen children of Dudley Farthing, pioneer Watauga citizen. She was first married to Warren Greene, after his death becoming the bride of Anderson Cable, prominent citizen of other days. She was raised in the Beaver Dam community, was a goof and charitable woman and had a wide circle of friends throughout the county.
