About Sarah Lucy Herndon

---------------------------------

There is a "Sary Herndon" listed as a daughter of Simon Poe, Sr. in his will, and many have assumed that Sarah Poe who married William Herndon is that daughter, though there are numerous conflicting ages and dates sourced on the web which contradict this if it is so.

In any event, the birth year and parents of Simon Poe, Sr. are mostly speculation. An earlier birth year for Simon Poe, Sr. and his siblings would make more sense and not be impossible. Some "researchers" have listed his birth year as 1693, making his death age as 100 years old, which isn't impossible, but differs by almost a full generation from the estimate of his age listed on this website.

The birth year of Simon, Sr.'s mother is listed here as 1670, which favors an earlier birth year for Simon, Sr., and makes the Sarah Herndon birth year of 1710, marriage year of 1730, seem more plausible.
