Sarah A (Stutzman) Howitt was born on December 9, 1851 in Holmes County, Ohio, United States. Her parents were Abraham Stutzman and Magdalena "Mattie" (Troyer) Stutzman.

Sarah married John Henry Howitt. Together they had the following children: Frances (Howitt) Kauffman; Mary Howitt; William A. Howitt; John Howitt; Frederick Ervin Howitt; George Howitt; Maggie (Howitt) Haugens; John Henry Howitt.

She died on March 8, 1919 in Chappell, Deuel County, Nebraska, United States.

Obituary

The Gospel Herald - Volume II, Number 52 - pages 831, 832, Howitt.--Sarah (Stutzman) Howitt was born in Holmes Co., O., Dec. 9, 1851; died at Chappell, Nebr., March 8, 1910. She was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Abe Stutzman who were among the early settlers in this country. On Jan. 25, 1874, she was married to John Howitt at Milford, Nebr. To this union were born 4 sons and 3 daughters, all of whom survive except one daughter who died when she was a child. Besides this she leaves 5 sisters and 3 brothers to mourn her departure. She united with the Amish Mennonite Church early in life and remained a faithful member to the end. Funeral services were held at the Amish Mennonite Church, conducted by Joe Zimmerman of Wood River, assisted by John Loeton of the Chappell M. E. church.
