Sarah Ann Lovegrove was born in Gray's Inn Road, St. Pancras, Camden Town,London on 16th December 1839. Her parents were John Lovegrove and Mary nee Beard.
Sarah left English shores on a 'Brides ship' to the west coast of Canada via the horn (no Panama Canal at that time) where she met and married Philp Jackman. It is thought that she was employed as a maid for the family of the comander of the Sappers - Col. Richard Moody and his wife:Mary Susannah Moody?
