Sarah Ann Madsen was the last child born to Jacob Madsen and Mary Catherine Krogue. In the 1910 census for Bloomington, Bear Lake, Idaho, they were listed as follows in the census record: Jacob, 50, Mary C., 44, Vera M., 19, Ilta G., 16, Newel J., 12, Raymond, 9, La Rue, 7, and Sarah Ann, 3 years old. Jacob was working as a farmer.
By 1920 the family was living in Logan, Cache County, Utah, at 26 East 4th North Street, and were listed as follows in the census record: Jacob, 60, Mary, 54, Ilta, 26, Niel (Newel), 22, Raymond, 19, La Rue, 17, and Sarah, 13. Jacob was still farming. They owned their home free from a mortgage. Ilta was the only one working and she was a stenographer for Utah Mortgage and Loan.
In the 1930 U.S. Federal Census for Salt Lake City, Utah, Sarah, was living with her parents and sister, and they were listed as follows in the census: Jacob, 72, Mary, 65, Ilta, 35, and Sarah, 23. Ilta was working as a stenographer for the railroad and Sarah was working as a grade school teacher. They owned their home located at 1463 East 13th Street South which was valued at $6,000. They also had a radio in their home. Jacob and Mary had been married for 43 years, and Jacob was listed as the owner of a farm out of Utah.
By the 1940 U.S. Federal Census for Preston, Franklin, Idaho, Sarah Ann Madsen had left home and was a 33 year old single woman working as a home economist for the power and light company. For the 52 weeks she worked at 40 hours per week during the year 1939 her income was $1,315. She was living with Dora Henderson, 50, and her sister, Lenora, 35, at 78 North 1st West Street. Dora was working as a pharmacist at a retail drug store and Lenora as a bookkeeper for a savings bank, and Ellen M. Bell, 32, also a lodger, was working as a public school teacher. Dora had 1 year of college, Lenora had 3 years, as did Ellen, and Sarah Ann Madsen had 4 years of college.
Sarah Ann married Daniel Glenn Jensen, 1897-1965, and they had three daughters, Marianne, Amelia Diane and Sheila. Sarah passed away April 11, 2003, at the age of 96 years old and was buried in the Logan City Cemetery, in Logan, Cache County, USA with her husband, Daniel. The back of their gravestone shows their three daughters names.
