Sarah Elizabeth "Betty" Luther was the youngest daughter of Frank and Irene (Whitaker) Luther of Tennessee. The Luther family moved to El Paso, Texas, in 1919. With her finger on the pulse of El Paso's heritage and social life, Betty was the Woman's Page Editor-of the Herald-Post in El Paso, Texas. She often included stories of her family. She was the family historian and kept letters and newspaper articles in scrapbooks. She also interviewed older family members and kept records of family genealogy. Later in life, she was bedridden with severe arthritis. Her sister Frank would type for her. Upon her death, her body was donated to medical science.
