About Sarah Maude Harding (King)

The Grahamstown journal does not mention the birth of Sarah but her mother, Ann King (Bradley), died after an illness of 7 months in the year of Sarah`s birth.

I got this information from Steve Harding:- He said that 6 members of the Harding family died in 1918 in the Spanish Influenza epidemic, including Sarah Maude Harding (King) and also her son, who was named Timothy Roland Harding after his father. They all died in the same week.

Timothy R. Harding was born in Indwe in 1886 in the Cape Province. He was only 32 years old when he died.. His own son Arthur Charles Harding,(born 1914) was only four years old when his dad died..

Arthur Charles Harding was the father of Steve Harding.

A story I heard about my great grandmother Sarah Maude Harding (King), was that after her mother died, her father took her on horseback to a neighbouring farm and the couple there then took over the care of this baby who was 7 months old.

Her family kept in contact with her as she was growing up. (Penelope Rijkaart-Berrington)
