MENDON CONSTITUTON, Mendon, Missouri, Thursday, Feb. 13, 1941 OBITUARY
Sarah Jane DeWeese, daughter of the late Carter and Nancy DeWeese, was born in Jamestown, Boone County, Indiana, Sept. 17, 1864 and passed away in Mendon, Feb. 3, 1941, age 76 years, 4 months and 17 days.
At the age of three years she came to Missouri, her parents settling in the vicinity of Indian Grove where she lived until January 1919, when she moved to Mendon. On Feb. 17, 1887 she was married to John T. May, who survives with her four children- Elmer of Lubbock, Texas, Ollie of Brunswick, Roy of Dodge City, Kansas, and Mrs. Bessie McKee of Ponca City, Oklahoma. Seven grandchildren, Mrs. Chester Graham, Beverly, Joyce, and Joann May of Dodge City, Kansas, Eugene May of Kansas City, and Laura Belle and Paul Edwin May of Brunswick. She also leaves two brothers, Warren DeWeese of Louisiana, Missouri, and Marion DeWeese of Brunswick; and one sister, Mrs. Clarissa Allen of Laclede.
Early in life Mrs. May joined the Christian Church in Indian Grove, later transferring to the Mendon Methodist Church. She was active in the Ladies Aid up to the time her health failed. She was a loving wife and mother and will be greatly missed by sorrowing loved ones. Funeral services were held at the Mendon Methodist Church Thursday, Feb. 6, and interment in the Powell Cemetery in Indian Grove.
