About Sarah Ann Minnick
My great grandmother was born in England but came to this country at the age of 1. Her parents settled in Minersville, Pa. where many Tovey cousins had previously settled. Sarah married Edward Joseph Petch on New Years Eve 1894 and they had one child together my grandfather Roy Joseph Petch-Minnick. Edward had immigrated to this country from Wales and worked in the coal mines in Schukyll County. My great grandfather died around the turn of the century as a result of either a accident in the mines or as a result of a illness related to being a miner. My great grandmother Sarah married William Preston Minnick around 1903 and my grandfather took his last name. Although the grave stones shows the surname spelled with an "H" that is incorrect. Minnick is the correct spelling.
