About Sarah Alletta Oliver
Sarah Aleeta (Boudinot) Oliver
Born Sarah Aleeta Boudinot, Sarah Oliver is the daughter of William B. Boudinot and his wife Mary T Baird. She was one of at least 8 childeren.
Sarah married Charles Augustus Oliver on 8 September 1870, after he returned from serving his country in the Civil War. Together they had three children: Charles Augustus Oliver, Jr. (b 1877), Harry VanCleef Oliver (b. 1879), and a third son who died in childhood.
Sarah would survive her husband by two years, dying in 1930.
An interesting note, by the time she died Sarah was functionally blind. Her son Harry V Oliver purchased a special clock that chimed not only on the hour but the quarter hour as well to help her tell the time. This clock remains in family possession. Further evidence for Sarah's blindness can be found in the Pension Records of her husband Charles Augustus Oliver because she had to file an updated Widow's Claim following his death.
