SUDDEN DEATH OF MRS. PLATT Old Resident of Riverside Township Expires After Illness of Only a Few Hours.
Mrs. Sarah Kendall Platt wife of Josiah H. Platt of Riverside township died this morning at 4:10 after an illness of only a few hours. She was stricken yesterday evening about 8 o'clock, with a cerebral hemorrhage, and remained unconscious until death claimed her. Doctors and members of the family were quickly summoned, but nothing could be done to restore her, and It soon became evident that the end would come soon. All the immediate members of her family were at her bedside, except those at a distance, who could not reach her In time. Mrs. Platt was born in Butler county, Ohio, April 17, 1841, and was 75 years of age. Five years ago she and Mr. Platt observed their golden wedding anniversary. They have resided in Riverside township for many years, and have a large number of friends and acquaintances who will regret to hear of her death. She was a member of the First Baptist church, having been converted when a girl. She -was a Christian woman, and of a kind, loving disposition.
She is survived by her husband and eight children, as follows: James F. Platt of Riverside; Louis K. Platt, Dallas, Texas; William E. Platt. St Louis: Harry H. Platt, Riverside township; Mrs. C. R. Zinn, McCloud, California; Josiah A. Platt, Riverside township; Mrs. Charles H. Brooks, Quincy, and Miss May Platt, who resides with her parents. She also leaves one sister, Mrs. H. H. Jansen, of Quincy.
Arrangements for the funeral services will not be made until word is received from the daughter In California.
