About Sarah Adeline Spriggs
Sarah Adeline Carroll was the daughter of Elisha & Judith (Butts) Carroll and reportedly was born in Habersham Co. Ga.
She married John Milton Spriggs on Dec 11, 1845 in Union Co. GA. Her husband brought the family from Georgia out to California about 1852. They spent the first winter at Gold Hill, Placer county, thence moved down to Saint Helena, Napa county.
They had 7 children before she died at the young age of 38. Three were born in Georgia and four in California.
Children: Infant son died in 1846 in GA Florida America (1848 GA -1933 CA) Signora Carrolline (1850-1852 GA) Sonora (1853-1877 CA) married T.J. Prowse John Milton Jr (1856-1860 CA) Georgia Anna (1858-1929 CA) m. Hugh Smith Mary Jane (abt 1859-1942) m. Henry Gentry Inscription: "In Memory of Sarah A. wife of J. M. Spriggs Born Nov. 26, 1827 Died Aug. 19, 1866 Age 38 Years 8 Months & 24 Days - - - In Heaven Thou Art Gone, Thy Children to See And Those That Are Left Will Soon Follow Thee"
