OBITUARY

Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Vankirk, the oldest daughter of Benjamin and Rachel Smith, was born near Rainsville, Indiana, in February, 1847. In 1867 was married to Dryden Vankirk, and moved to Missouri in 1884, where she remained until called to join her friends and loved ones in that home from whence no traveler has ever returned.

That home for which she made a start at the early age of 14 by a profession of faith in Christ and united with the Christian church, of which she remained a member until death. She was the mother of four children; two of whom survive her, a son and a daughter. She also leaves three sisters, two brothers, two grand-children and a husband to mourn their loss. She was a true and faithful mother, a loving and devoted wife. She died December 7th, 1907, at 2:30 a.m. Aged 60 years, 10 months and 20 days.

The funeral services were held at the house, conducted by W.B. Beagle after which she was laid to rest at the Cabool cemetery.
