Sébastien de Brossard was born in 1655 in Dompierre in Orne. Born into a family of the old French nobility, he would include his ancestors Charles of France, count of Valois (grandson of saint Louis) and Hélène de Brossard. His studies at the college of the Jesuits, and then at the University of Caen, in philosophy, science and theology, enable it to acquire a solid intellectual formation.
