About Selma Simon

Selma Katz was born on December 21, 1894, in Bad Arolson, daughter of Jacob and Ida Katz. She married Karl Simon and they lived in Cloppenburg and had four daughters. Selma and Karl, along with daughters Edith and Ilsa, were passengers on the ill-fated SS St. Louis and were sent to Holland after all their belongings had been unloaded in Havana Harbor. They were interned in Arnem and Westbork camps before their final deportation to Sobibor, with Edith narrowly escaping and surviving. See, p. 7, for details, as described by daughter Hildegard.
