About Sgt. Daniel Butler

"Sergeant Daniel Butler, fifth son of Richard and Elizabeth (Bigelow) Butler. Daniel Butler was born about 1650 at Hartford, and died March 28, 1692. His wife Mabel was another daughter of Nicholas Olmstead, whose son Joseph and daughter Mary married Daniel's sister Elizabeth and brother Samuel. In August 1697, Mabel became the second wife of Michael Taintor, by whom she had other children. Daniel lived in Hartford, where he was a freeman in 1685. He inherited his father's home lot there, with the buildings, and also a lot called: "ten acres." On May 15, 1683, he signed as witness to a deed of assignment to the Town of Wallingford. He and Mabel had five or six children. The son Jonathan is not listed in some records and there is no data about him. At Daniel's death his estate inventoried at the sum of 391 pounds I shilling."[1]
