About Shanae Watson Muir
Shanae Watson Muir (2000 - 2005)
Brief overview:
Shanae (5), disappeared on 9th July 2005 from her home in Warner Beach, Durban. Her decomposed body was found in a bushy area near the N2 freeway 19 days later. This was less than a kilometre from the home she lived in with her mother, Allison, and grandparents, Margaret and Bob Chaplin.
The postmortem could not determine the cause of death, and this was one of the factors that hampered the investigation. A formal inquest was requested, but magistrate E D Mzolo, ruled against it, stating this was due to a lack of evidence and witnesses. This angered both the police and the family.
Various people were questioned by police, including Shanae’s mother, Alison, but still to date her killer has never been found.
