Sheindel Altman

Gravestone has her born in 1855 but when she passed through Ellis Island in 1912, she gave a younger age, 43, so born in 1869. Her death certificate that I found online says she was born in 1862. Marriage certificate says 1864.

The death certificate says she is the daughter of Isador Graber and Chana Barak. But her gravestone says bas Avraham.

Family story is that she married Altman, a much older widower from the next town with children almost as old as she. And she got cooperation from the eldest daughter Chaya Faiga by promising to fix her up with her brother Fahvel and that is how that match took place.

Records from Szczebrzeszyn show widow Shaindla Kupersztejn marrying widower Moshe Altman in 1896 and then Moshe 's death in 1897. Marriage certificate was hard to translate and confused. Father was Avraham Nachman and mother Rivka Burs? Can that be Chana Riva Bark? according to family lore, yes.

Or maybe her father was Abraham Nachman Kupersztejn and the widow designation was to account for the delayed registration of the marriage. They already had 5 children

So Sheindel's youngest daughter Sarah is born just as her father dies. And Shaindel's father also died before she grew up. Sad stories.
