On 16 January 1828, Silas and his business partner Norman Gaston advertised in the Free Press of Auburn, New York, for an establishment they had opened in October 1827: a horse livery stable “...to accommodate the publick with genteel Carriages and fine Horses.”
Silas and Submit arrived in McHenry County in 1853.
