Mr. Sim Gray Roberts, age 71, of Rt. 5, Lyons, died Sunday, Nov. 16, at Meadows Memorial Hospital, Vidalia, after a short illness.
He was a native of Toombs County, and a retired farmer. He was also a member of Center United Methodist Church.
Mr. Roberts was the son of Ezra and Christine Halligan Roberts. He is survived by: his widow, Edna Dykes Roberts, of Lyons; and four daughters, the Mesdames Frances Cooper, Vidalia, Grace Hazewinkel, Columbia, S.C., Juanita Bullard, Savannah, and Diane Newton, Baxley. He is also survived by three sons: Benjamin Roberts, Uvalda, Billy Roberts, Roseville, Michigan, and Carlton Roberts, Lyons. He leaves four sisters: Mrs. Lillie Carter, Baxley, Mrs. Vira Lee Chastain, Lyons, Mrs. Winnie Browning, Mulberry, Fla., and Mrs. Mae Sellers, Winter Haven, Fla. Twenty-four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services for Mr. Roberts were held Tuesday, at 3:00 p.m. at Center United Methodist Church with Rev. James Boyd officiating, assisted by Rev. Marvin Carter. Interment was at Lakeview Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers were: Carl Cooper, David Roberts, Kenneth Roberts, Kevin Roberts, Tommy Faircloth and Kenny Faircloth. Honorary Pallbearers were: Aubrey Jackson, Tom McDonald, Doc McDonald, Rev. Paul Edenfield, Senator Kramer, B.C. Stephens, Johnny Dixon, Bobby Salter, Louie Sprattling and Wallace Lowery.
Murchison Funeral Home of Vidalia was in charge of arrangements.
