Simeon was injured when the British raided Leetes Island June 18, 1781. Simeon died the next day.
"He was shot by the British in a skirmish at Leete’s Island. The following is the inscription upon his tombstone: 'In Memory of Mr. Simeon Leete who was shot by the Enemy at Leete’s Island the 18th, and died the 19th, day of June 1781, in the 29th year of his age.' His family removed, in 1802, to Fairfield, Herkimer County, N.Y. and afterward, in 1817, to Chautauqua County N.Y., and to Erie County, PA.”
