Simon Malebane (1958 - 2019)
Brief overview:
Simon, a 61 year-old farmer from Radium, Bela Bela found dead in his home on 17th August 2019. He was allegedly hit by his vehicle and attacked with an unknown object, then dragged to his home, tied with rope and killed. Daniel Ngoagamobe (59) a farm worker was also found tied up and shot dead next to the house.
Police officers found a 9mm cap on the scene. Malebane had firearms in his possession, it is not clear whether his firearm was stolen and it was used to kill the worker. The motive is unknown. According to Malebane's family he was involved in a court case regarding church groups on land in the Mokopane (Potgietersrus), which police say could be a motive.

- 19/04/2023: The High Court in Polokwane on Wednesday sentenced the 28-year-old Lazarus Justice Mohapi to two life sentences and another 48 years in prison for the murder four years ago of Radium farmer Simon Malebane and one of his employees, Daniel Ngoagamobe (59). The convicted farm killer was found guilty of two counts of murder, conspiracy to commit robbery, aggravated robbery, illegal possession of firearms, illegal possession of ammunition and breach of the Immigration Act.
