Simon (Samuel) Tauber of 731 Milwaukee Ave., Chicago, became a naturalized citizen of the U.S. on 16 Mar 1891 {witness: his cousin, Morris Tauber]. At the time, he had been a resident of the U.S. for 5 years, 10 months. When Simon Tauber applied for a U.S. passport in Chicago on 20 Aug 1901, he indicated the following: that he was born at Privetitz, Austria on 1 Jan 1869, that he emigrated to the U.S. on board the “Polaria” out of Hamburg on 1 May 1885, that he continuously resided in Chicago, Illinois from 1885 to 1901, that he became a naturalized U.S. citizen at Chicago on 16 Mar 1891, and that his occupation was that of liquor dealer.
