Well Sime I have made arangments on both Saturdays to come out thare bu it has bint bad. I hitched up this last Saturday and it got to raining so hard that i went and on hitched. I dont know for surtain wether i will be out thare this saturday or not, but if it hant to bad i will be out if I can get off. the rodes is so bad that maby i will come a horse back. well that is all, if I cant come out this Saturday I will come as soon as I can. I dont know wether you can read this or not I didnt think to rite till it was bed time and then I had torite in a hurry.

Dear Cousin Simon I will an's our ever welcome letter I received and was glad to hear from you I am all O.K. at present and hope this finds you the same it's quite a bluster day I havnt been out much I guess I will go to church tonight and take m girl I have got a nice girl now her home is in Cleveland and she is going to stay here all winter I surely am haveing good times with her she is as pretty as a yellow hen and weighs 135 pounds I will be over for Chrismas I will come one week from tomorrow if nothing happens then its m intension to come back here and stay till spring till march an way then I will be free from the law if an one should have a charge against me I dont know whether dock McC. could do an thing with me or not but for fear I will come back and stay till spring unless you have a job waiting for me then I will stay with you but never the less we will talk it over when I see you I am almost ashamed to show m face on account of what a reck I have been but what I have been aint what I will be in the future I am going to save my money and be something I would like to go home Chrismas but I guess I cant if you rite home before you see me tell them to keep me concealed from ever body I heard long ago that m little girl was all O.K. but I thought I was in trouble with her I used to think lots of her but she has almost passed from m mind well I guess I will close b hoping to have good luck and get to come over Chrismas I am ever our Cousin and friend Walter [This was Walter D. Mr. Cliff Carrick while riding home one night last week, collided with the rig of Simon Vickers and was thrown from his horse sustaining a broken leg. This should be a lesson to others who are in the habit of riding at break neck speed on public roads on dark nights.

The social event of this place, was the surprise picnic at the cottage home of Mr. O. M. Pence. There was a fine supper and every one enjoyed the feast. The guest of honor was Mrs. Laura Gilfilling of Mrcahal [sic.], Texas; she is a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Ward of Middleport; Other guests were Mrs. Jane Trowbridge, Miss Grace Trowbridge, Benton, Aerio, Gertrude and Lottie Trowbridge, Louisa McClain, Simon, Lucy, Ruth, Lizzie, Walter, Helen and Freda Vickers, Harry and Estella Bickel and Louisa Webster, to help Otis enjoy Tena's surprise. A picnic would not be a success without an accident, so while the were speeding along, two of the girls called to the driver that one of the tires was off. This was replaced with some difficult and the journey resumed.

Mr. Van McCrear, wife and two children, were over Sunday guests of Mr. and Mrs. Simon Vickers. Mr. McCreary lives on a farm about 22 miles from Columbus. He says corn is good on low ground but poor on the hills.

SIMON VICKERS, 85, FOUND DEAD IN BED

Simon Wesley Vickers, 85, was found dead in bed at his Union Furnace home Sunday morning.
Dr. Owen F. aw, Hocking Count coroner, said death was due to a cerebral hemorrhage. The coroner said Mr. Vickers had been dead about 12 hours. Mr. Vickers suffered a stroke about three ears ago.
The deceased was a retired Buckeye Pipe Line Co. worker. He was born in Vinton County, a son of William and Elizabeth Vickers. He lived most of his life in Union Furnace.
Surviving are his wife Lucy; three daughters, Miss Ruth Vickers of the home and Mrs. Elizabeth Wyskiver, Mrs. Helen Anderson and Mrs. Freda Oeffler, all of Union Furnace; two sons, Walter and Charles Vickers, both of Union Furnace; a sister Mrs. James Mills of near South Bloomingville; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Woodard Funeral Home, with the Rev. Paul Sellers officiating. Burial will be made in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home after 7 p.m. today.

FUNERAL SERVICES HELD FOR SIMON VICKERS

Funeral services for Simon Wesley Vickers, 85, who was found dead in bed at his Union Furnace home Sunday morning, were held a 2 p.m. today at the Woodard Funeral Home.
Mr. Vickers, a retired pipeline worker, died of a cerebral hemorrhage.
Services were conducted by the Rev. Paul Sellers, pastor of the Union Furnace EUB Church. Music was presented by Harry and Leo Armstrong, vocalists, and Mrs. Harry Armstrong, pianist.
Pallbearers were Darrell Anderson, Dick Anderson, Jack Wyskiver, John McLain, William McLain and James McLain.
Burial was made in Oak Grove Cemetery.
