Sir Alexander Toose

The Toose family is revealed in The Visitation of Somerset (visSom, page 111), which shows Alexander Toose and his unnamed first wife (uxor prima) as parents of Johannes (John) Toose. Alexander later married the widow of John Combes (relicta Johannis Combes), who was the mother by her prior husband (John Combes) of Johanna (Joan) Combes. John Toose of Taunton subsequently married Joan Combes, his stepsister, and they were the parents of Margeria (Margery) Toose, who married Roger Hill. (Why this pedigree is in latin is not explained.)

This Visitation actually displays the wife of Roger Hill of Taunton as Alicia, elder sister of Margeria. The Hill page (50) shows Roger's wife as "Margery d. and h. of . . . ."
