About Sir Christopher Hurst

Date of birth has also been (erroneously?) reported to be January 1613.

Born at Long Combe, Oxford County, in 1539 he died in Leckhampstead December 1, 1613. His wife was Joane, last name probably Benchley or Bentley. The wives names are never considered important enough to be preserved and where they accidentally show up that problem with penmanship is always with us.

Christopher, in his will, desired to be buried in the church yard cemetery at Leckhampstead and probably this was done. Joane was buried there October 5, 1600 . We here offer Christopher's will. Joann had now been dead thirteen years, so does not appear in the will.
