"Sir Hugh Purves-Hume-Campbell, Baronet [S. 1665], of Marchmont House aforesaid, only s. and h., b. 15 Dec. 1812, at Edinburgh; ed. at Eton and at Trin. Coll., Cambridge; suc. to the Baronetcy, 9 April 1833 ; M.P. for Berwickshire (four Paris.), 1834-47 ; Brig. Gen. of the Royal Company of Archers, the Queen's body guard [S.]. He m. firstly, 30 Jan. 1834, at Spottiswoode, co. Berwick, Margaret Penelope, yr. da. of John Spottiswoode, of Spottiswoode aforesaid, by Helen, da. of Andrew Wauchope, of Niddrie. She d. 16 Oct. 1839, suddenly, at Paris. He m. secondly, 9 Oct. 1841, at St. Geo. Han. sq., Juliana Rebecca, only da. of Lieut. Gen. Sir Joseph Fuller, G.C.H. She d. at Marchmont House, 11 and was bur. 19 Oct. 1886, in Kensal Green Cemetery. Will pr. 14 Dec. 1886, above £65,000. He d. s.p.s., 30 Jan. 1894, at 18 Hill street, Berkeley square, in his 82d year."
