Thomas Clarell born about 1375 England, married Elizabeth Scrope who was born about 1379 at Upsall, Yorkshire; she was the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Strathbogie) Scrope. It is believed she died March 8th, 1430

Their daughter and heir Elizabeth Clarell born about 1415 of Aldwark, Yorkshire, who died April 23, 1503 She married in about 1447 to Richard FitzWilliam of Aldwarke. Their son Sir Thomas FitzWilliam, of Aldwarke, married Lady Lucy Nevill, daughter and co-heiress, living 1530.

Richard Fitzwilliam, Knight of Wadworth, Yorkshire, and in right of his wife, of Aldwarke, Birkby and Haldenby, Yorkshire and hereditary patron of Austin Friars, Tickhill, Sherriff of Yorkshire. He married before 1448 to Elizabeth Clarell, daughter andf co-heiress of Thomas Clarell of Aldwark by Elizabeth Scrope. They had 7 sons and 5 daughters:

Son of Edmund Fitzwilliam, esq. of Wadworth, and high sheriff of Yorkshire, 6th of Edward IV. He married Elizabeth, daughter and heiress of Thomas Clarell, esq. of Aldward, by whom he had a large family. Sir Richard died on the 22 September 1478. (Hunter's South Yorkshire, ii. 54-6.) He was buried in the conventual church of the Austin Friars at Tickhill, and, at the dissolution of the house, his gorgeous monument was taken to the parish church, where it still remains, rich with painting and heraldry. (Ibid. i. 241-2)

(Sir) Thomas Fitzwilliam was born at Wadworth on Jan. 13, 1448. He married and had issue by Lucy, daughter of John Neville, marquis of Montacute, and coheir of her brother the duke of Bedford. Sir Thomas Fitzwilliam made his will on Apr. 27th, 1497, in the presence of his confessor, Thomas Norcrosse, a chaplain in the free chapel of Tickhill, Thomas Wilcokes, clerk, rector of Rawmarch, and others. He desired to be buried in the house of the Friars at Tickhill, near the tomb of his father, Richard Fitzwilliam. To Elizabeth, his bastard daughter, he left 20 marks. To Elizabeth Fitzwilliam, his mother, a pair of beads of gold. He desires his feoffees to make to Lucy his wife an estate of 26l. 13s. 4d. per annum, and appoints her his executrix. Pr. June 6th, 1498 (Reg. Test. v 515 b.)

These daughters and their alliances are mentioned by Mr. Hunter. On Oct. 15, 1460, archbishop William Booth issued a licence to the vicar of Ecclesfield, empowering him to mary William Wentworth, esq. and Elizabeth, daughter of Richard Fitzwilliam, exq. in the chapel of Aldwark, after banns had been thrice published in the parish church. (Reg. Booth, 18 b.) In Mr. Hunter's pedigree the Christian name of this lady is given as Isabel, and that of her husband was not known to that distinguished antiquary.
