Daniel Griffin, the son of Benjamin Griffin, who moved from Shelburne to Gorham in
1831, and Miss Susan Lary of Wolfeforo, N.H., was born in Shelburne, July 12th, 1817.
He attended the public school and worked on a farm the most of his life. He enlisted in
the 14th N.H. Regt. of U.S. Volunteers, Aug. 14th, 1862, where he remained three years
and three months. He was in seven engagements, among which were Winchester and Cedar
Creek. He married, May 23rd, 1840, Miss Achsah Wilson, daughter of Abbram Wilson
of Gorham. They had ten children, eight of whom are living. She died Dec 16th, 1869.
He lives near Peabody's Mills.
