About Solomon Higley

Lydia's parents were born in Connecticut. In 1764 he was baptized in the old English church of St. Andrew at Bloomfield, Connecticut. He was the first Higley that emigrated from Connecticut. His family was part of the founders of Shakers at Mount Labanon, New York in about 1774-1792. Some of the older children, however, did not enter the community, three finally left the Shaker Community. This also cause great trail and dissatisfaction to Soloman's brother Daniel.
