Solomon Hillen, Jr., a Representative from Maryland; born on the family estate, Hillen Road, near Baltimore, Md., July 10, 1810; was graduated from Georgetown College; studied law; was admitted to the bar and commenced practice in Baltimore; member of the State house of representatives 1834-1838; elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-sixth Congress (March 4, 1839-March 3, 1841); resumed the practice of law; mayor of Baltimore 1842-1845; died in New York City on June 26, 1873; interment in Greenmount Cemetery, Baltimore, Md.
