Solomon Mill, Jr.

Solomon, father of John H., was born in Durham township in 1802. His father died when he was quite young, and in 1812, when less than ten years old, he, with his mother, threshed over three hundred bushels of buckwheat. He bought a farm in this township, where he lived until his death in 1861. He was industrious, and was especially noted for keeping fine stock. His wife was Sypra Regina Hillpot, a native of this township, who died a year before her husband, aged 58. They had nine children, seven of whom are now living: John H., Solomon Charles, Samuel P., Catherine Ann, Barbara Regina, Mary Jane and Sypra Ann.
