He married, second, on Jan 21,1880, Lucy Jane (Crosby) Cozad. She was born on Mar 2,1844 in Ohio, a daughter of Thomas Daniel Crosby and Mary Adeline (Ingersoll) Crosby. She had married, first, on Oct 16,1861 in Pennsylvania, Andrew Dudley Cozad (1839-?). She died after 1900.

Children(by first marriage): Ella Jane Whitney Hougham, Harriet Eaton Whitney Foltz, Willard Arms Whitney, Genevieve Whitney Cunningham, Sarah Catherine Whitney Taylor, Bertha Everett Whitney, and Jessie Chase Whitney Westgate.
