Southy Simpson was a son, born to Col. Southy Simpson ( c 1720-1779) and Comfort Dix (c 1718-1784) at Accomack County, VA ca 1756.

Southy Simpson was a Veteran of the Revolutionary War. He served in the Accomack County, VA Militia in 1775, under the command of his father, Col. Southy Simpson.

[One occasion mentioned in the 1851 Pension Application of his widow, Hannah Topping was that he was sent to Watts Island to burn Robert Parker's house, because he was thought to be a Tory.]

Southy Simpson was named in his father's will on October 15, 1778 at Accomack County, VA. He was named as a son, Southy Simpson in the will of Col. Southy Simpson.

Circa 1780, he married an unknown daughter of Thomas Copes, III and his wife, Susannah. She was born ca 1755 and died before January 19, 1784. There was 1 known child of this marriage: Thomas Simpson (b ca 1782).

On June 2, 1786, Southy Simpson married Hannah Scarburgh Rogers, the daughter of Thomas Wise Rogers and Anne Simpson at Accomack County, VA.

[ Hannah's Revolutionary War Pension Application shows their actual marriage date was June 4, 1786, 2 days after the Marriage Bond was issued on June 2, 1786.] Also, according to Dorman, Hannah was his 3rd wife.

The known children of Southy Simpson & Hannah Scarburgh Rogers were:

Nancy Simpson (6/6/1787 - 8/6/1792); Elizabeth Simpson (b 11/8/1788) and Southy Simpson, Jr. (11/20/1790 - 7/24/1792).

Southy Simpson died in October, 1794. Administration of his estate was filed on November 18, 1794 at Accomack County, VA and his estate was settled on May 19, 1800 at Accomack County, VA.
